Dish-shaped grinding container swings in a tight high-speed circle to crush samples to analytical fineness. Extremely high resistance to abrasion, wears very slowly, and results in little contamination. Typical samples include cements, soils, ceramics, slag, rocks, minerals, ores, pharmaceuticals, sulfur pellets, and dried plant material.
Grinding container lined with Mg-stabilized zirconia ceramic offers high efficiency—about one and one-half times as dense as alumina yet grinds almost as fast as steel. Container consists of steel lid and aluminum dish lined with zirconia ceramic, and solid zirconia ceramic puck.
Dimensions are 15.2 cm diameter x 8 cm high at 6 kg (6 in. diameter x 3.2 in. high at 13 lb). Nominal volume 170 mL, recommended grinding load 15-40 mL. Includes puck, dish with O-ring gasket and lid.
