Cryogenic cooling with liquid nitrogen keeps your samples at ultra-low temperatures, preventing heat damage. The Cole-Parmer® SamplePrep CG-200 Freezer/Mill® has one dual purpose chamber that precools and grinds samples and can hold one small grinding vial, or one microvial set. The Freezer/Mill works with various vial materials including polycarbonate and stainless steel. Since the vial is securely closed the integrity of its contents is maintained, hazardous or critical samples are easily controlled, and cross-sample contamination is eliminated.
Easy-to-use controls allow precise grinding without complicated setup. The unit pulverizes hard, brittle or temperature-sensitive materials that traditional mills struggle to process. Ideal for biological, pharmaceutical, and food applications, as well as hazardous or critical samples. The large, high-resolution touchscreen controls all paramters of the run. The interface allows you to view training videos, user manual, and run history which can be transferred to a computer using a thumb drive.
The CG-200 is built for safety and longevity. The liquid nitrogen sensor prevents damage by ensuring proper cooling during operation, shutting down the mill if the liquid nitrogen level is too low. The Cole-Parmer SamplePrep Freezer/Mill is designed for use in an open, well-ventilated workspace to avoid condensation-related issues. Cryogenic gloves and safety gear are recommended for safe handling.
Purchase liquid nitrogen, extractor and sample vials separately.
Model Number | CG-200 |
Type of Mill | Cryogenic impact mill |
Grinding Vials | (1) 6751, 6761, 6771, 6781S, or (1) 6757 microvial set |
Typical Vial Capacity | 6751 vial set: actual volume with impactor, approximately 25 mL |
Typical Sample Weight | 2 grams for biological samples, 1 gram for polymers. The maximum capacity for easily ground samples of moderate density is approximately 8 grams. Overfilling a vial greatly reduces its efficiency. 6757 Vial Set: 100-500 mg per individual 6757 Microvial, depending on sample. Effective capacity for a given sample may be smaller or larger than those given, depending on sample properties such as physical form, density, flexibility, etc. |
Display | Touchscreen |
Grinding Mechanism | Steel impactor driven by electromagnets |
Data Transfer | Dual USB ports (back of controller) |
Coolant | Liquid nitrogen (LN) Typical liquid nitrogen volume needed is 4-5 liters for initial cool-down and filling of the tub. Liquid nitrogen consumption is 3-6 liters for each hour or operation. Actual liquid nitrogen consumption can vary. |
Cryogenic Dewar | 5 L to 10 L Dewar is recommended for manually filling the tub |
